Strive for agents

Connect Strive to AI assistants over MCP, or use the strive command-line tool to read and update your events, tasks, goals, notes, and people from a terminal.

Connect an AI assistant (MCP)

Connect Strive to Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI assistant so it can read and update your calendar, tasks, goals, notes, and people. You sign in to Strive and choose whether it may make changes.

Claude

Add Strive to Claude

Claude opens with Strive filled in. Choose Add, then sign in to Strive. This works on every Claude plan, and Strive then appears in Claude on all your devices.

ChatGPT

Open ChatGPT
  1. On chatgpt.com, open Settings > Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Open Plugins and choose the plus button.
  3. Name it Strive and paste the server URL below.
  4. Sign in to Strive and choose what ChatGPT may do.

Needs a paid ChatGPT plan. ChatGPT uses Strive on the web, not in its mobile apps.

Server URL

Full access

https://api.striveplanner.app/mcp

Read only

https://api.striveplanner.app/mcp/readonly

Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers can use these. The read-only URL never changes anything. Clients that take a header instead of signing in can send Authorization: Bearer with a personal access token.

Local server

Desktop assistants that run local servers can start the CLI's own MCP server over stdio after strive auth login. Add --read-only to hide every tool that writes.

strive mcp

Assistants can see your calendar, tasks, journal, goals, notes, circles, and friends, look people up one at a time, and share what you own with your circles and friends. Account settings and deleting your account are never available to them.

Install

macOS and Linux (Homebrew)

brew install --cask mikaelweiss/tap/strive

Windows

winget install MikaelWeiss.Strive

Or with Scoop:

scoop bucket add mikaelweiss https://github.com/MikaelWeiss/scoop-bucket
scoop install strive

Install script (macOS and Linux)

curl -fsSL https://github.com/MikaelWeiss/strive-cli/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh

The script checks the download's SHA-256 checksum and installs to ~/.local/bin. Run strive update to upgrade later.

strive auth login

Your browser opens with a code. Check that it matches the one in your terminal, choose read-only or read and write, and approve. You can also approve from the Strive app on your phone or Mac.

strive auth status shows who you are signed in as. Every signed-in computer and connected app is listed in Settings, Agents, where you can revoke it.

Commands

strive agenda [today|week|<date>]
What is on your calendar.
strive task add|ls|done|undo|edit|rm
Tasks: add, list, complete, reopen, change, delete.
strive event add|ls|show|edit|rm
Events, including recurring series.
strive report
Say whether past events happened.
strive intend / reflect / journal
Today's intention, reflections, and your journal.
strive goal ls|show|status
Goals and habits with progress.
strive log <goal> <value>
Log progress on a goal.
strive person ls|show|add|stale
People, and who you have not seen lately.
strive note-on <person> <text>
Write down something about someone.
strive note add|ls|show|edit|rm|folders
Markdown notes.
strive search <text>
Search events, notes, goals, and people.
strive add <text>
Quick capture from one line.

Output is a table in a terminal and JSON when piped, or with --json. strive --help lists everything.

Scripts and CI

For scripts, create a personal access token in Settings, Agents. Choose read-only unless the script needs to write, and give it an expiry. The token is shown once.

Pass it in the STRIVE_TOKEN environment variable. It is used as-is and never stored:

STRIVE_TOKEN=stv_pat_... strive task ls --json

Or store it once on a machine you control:

strive auth login --with-token < token.txt
